Dana Armstrong, InspireRD
The name stands for Inspired Retail Design. That gives all
the clues. Dana Armstrong is probably the only designer to
sit on the board of a major FTSE company - at Asda - where
she came up with the market hall design for the giant retailer's
superstore. Today at Yorkshire-based inspireRD,
Armstrong is plotting to indoctrinate Britain's corporates
with design thinking. "The only joy you feel when you
buy a house or a car is when you actually get your hands on
the thing," she observes. "The actual 'retail' experience
is usually miserable. There are too many inefficient retailing
experiences out there - such as banking." Hear, hear.

Dana Armstrong - Armstrong joins
a coterie of young guns in the ASDA stable of rising executives.
She is responsible for the look and feel of ASDA stores and
plays a crucial role in keeping the punters happy. In particular
she was responsible for designing, building and opening the
market hall store concept for the group. It will be interesting
to see what else she can bring to ASDA as it struggles to
maintain its profile in an increasingly competitive world.
